Season 1 Summary

There is an ensuing war between the Seven Kingdoms. Robb Stark, the King in the North is fighting to gain independence for his territory and the Riverlands. Robb feels that it is important to align with the ironborn, and summons his best friend Theon Greyjoy to negotiate with his father, who has his own special plans. In the meantime, Joffrey Baratheon is sitting on the Iron Throne with the powerful House Lannister behind him; however his uncle Renly is also vying for the throne in alignment with House Tyrell, with much bigger armies. Tyrion Lannister reaches King’s Landing to take matters in his hands, but is opposed by his shrewd sister Cersei, who is now the Queen Regent.

There is yet another faction vying for the throne, Stannis Baratheon, Renly’s older brother and Robert’s younger brother. He is advised by Melisandre, who is an enigmatic priestess and believes that Stannis is the chosen one.

Far towards the east, Daenerys Targaryen has turned 3 dragon eggs into 3 infant dragons. She is struggling to find supporters for her claim to the Iron Throne.

Meanwhile the Night’s Watch has launched an expedition beyond the Wall, wherein they are searching for gathering wildlings and missing rangers. Jon Snow is asked to make stringent choices for the sake of the realm and for himself.
