Game of Thrones Season 2 Episode 3 Review & Plot – What Is Dead, May Never Die

Beyond The Northern boundaries, Jon covered with blood is brought by Craster & he dumps him at the feet of Lord Commander Jeor Mormont. He informs the Commander that Jon was stalking him& therefore he wants all of them to leave. Later, Lord Commander questions him about his actions. Jon tries to inform him about the White Walkers, but it seems he already knew all this time. Mormont didn’t want to cross his way as he was the only resort outside the wall & has a lot of information which he can give. Though disgusted by his ways of giving away his sons & marrying his daughters, they have to obey. He warns Jon too, to not interrupt him. But Jon tries to explain him about the dark shadow he saw. Jeor knowing it, tells him, he’ll surely see it again.

Summer, direwolf of Bran Stark, walks to Stark’s bedroom, following Hodor & looks at Bran sleeping. This wakes Bran up. Bran views the whole scene from Summer’s point of view & this dream scared him. He then visits Maester Luwin & tells him about his dreams & the link of it with reality. Maester Luwin, on the other hand, question him if all his dreams come true, which confuses Bran. He then shows Bran a piece of Valyrian steel hanging down his neck (which is bestowed for the ones who know or understand magic). He tells him that such a thing, no more exists.

Lady Catelyn Stark arrives at Renly’s court for joining hands with him for the war. A tournament was just over, in which Brienne of Tarth, with a massive built & great skills, has beaten Loras Tyrell, a very famous knight. Renly accepts Brienne to serve in Kingsguard. Renly then meets Catelyn & introduces her to his wife Margaery Tyrell. He accepts her offer & shows off his army of 100,000 warriors. She does not like the way Renly presents his strength & tells him to act serious about this war situation. According to her those were the knights of summer & it seems winter is coming.

Theon Greyjoy, at the castle Pyke, argues with his sister for playing such a game with him when he reached Iron Islands. He while discussing war plans with his father, authorises him a ship to hold back on to the Stone Shore & Yara about thirty ships to take over Deepwood Motte. This makes him furious & he asks his father to rethink the treaty as if they join hands with Robb & win, they would secure their rule & will be awarded Casterly Rock & also the first source to Lannister’s wealth.  Theon though shouts at his back to which he plays a deaf ear. Balon makes him realise that he seems to be too loyal to the Starks, but he accuses his father to be the only one to give up on him by showing his lack of faith. Balon in response hits him & storms out.

 Theon then thinks of warning Robb about the situation & also writes a letter to him. But then reconsiders his loyalty to his own family & burns the letter. Hence, his decision made. Later he is baptized by a priest in the religion of the Drowned God. This makes Theon stronger about his decisions & upcoming faith on his father.

Tyrion Lannister hears up Shea as she doesn’t want to stay captivated anymore. He explains her that she needs to be here as a secret. He joins hands with Varys to give her a job so that she can have her freedom as well as she would be safe. When appointed as a servant in the kitchen but she was unable to perform it. So then she was made Sansa Stark’s maiden which would also make Sansa to relief her pain to. When Cersei arranged a dinner service to all her authorities, Sansa was as well invited. Though she was a captivator, she seemed to keep her royalty & Shea was introduced as her maiden.

The loyalty to put his trust on was to be tested as the two hands of the king, working, must be affirmative about the decisions made. Therefore, Tyrion Lannister decided to make a smart plan over to who is the delegate for the Bunco. He calls upon Maester Pycelle, Varys & Littlefinger & tells them that he strategizes to marry Princess Myrcella as a treachery, which would be further beneficial. He informs each of them a different plan to send her. As his plan proceeds, he finds out that Pycelle is the one, when the Queen confronts about his ways to him. He therefore places him in one of the Black cells of the Red Keep. But he suggests he would continue to follow the plan though exposed. Tyrion appoints Petyr Baelish to spy upon Renly & Catelyn as he was not contended being a part of his hypocrisy.

Renly in his chambers, after a tiring day was lying on his bed with his lover Loras. As the self proclaimed King tries to approach him, he reminds him of his new Queen & that he needs his heir to ascend the throne after him. His place is then replaced by Queen Margaery. She, knowing about his homosexuality, still tries to seduce him, but fails. She then requests him to call upon her brother as she knows how important it is for him to have a descender.

 In the King’s Landing, Tyrion approaches Littlefinger & Varys for the further improvement of their plan, though they are not convinced by it. He asks Littlefinger to carry a message to Catelyn, which he agrees to. While Varys, impressed by the Dwarf’s cunning & strategizing nature, speaks a thought of a man’s power is decided by his believes, as even a small man casts a large shadow.

As they move towards the Castle Black, Arya suffer with insomnia as the death of her father keeps on flashing in front of her eyes. She asks Gendry, how he managed to get over his memories as he must have seen many. He told her about his brother & asked her to think about the revenge which would help her anxiety to turn over. In the meanwhile, Ser Amory Lorch interrupts their conversation with his army of few men attacking to seek Gendry. Yoren dies in the fight to save him. Arya rescues Jaqen H’ghar from a fire. But she gets arrested by Polliver & snatching her sword, Needle.

Lommy wears Gendry’s helmet & begs the gold cloaks to take him with them too. But, one blow on the neck & Needle kills him. Arya somehow manages to convince them about him being Gendry, as he was wearing the helmet. Ser Amory then orders the prisoners, Arya, Gendry & Hot Pie to be taken to Harrenhal.

The danger in the north seems to be exposed by Craster to the Night’s Watch. Bran continues to dream or dream the future maybe. Catelyn convinces Renly to join the Starks. The Greyjoy are about to start their own war. Tyrion Lannister is playing his own games by treachery or just good view. In the meanwhile, Arya Stark is captured back to Harrenhal. Some secrets revealed, some still enclosed; some are captured, some are exposed. Every sword is destined to be flanged to kill & every man standing in front has to die, to his dismay…
