Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 8 Review & Plot- Hardhome

Septa Unella meets Cersei who asks her for water in reply to confessing her sins. Cersei asks her to speak with Tommen but Septa don’t let her do that. Afterwards, Qyburn meets Cersei and tells her about the charges she have, which included oedipal love and assassination of Robert Baratheon, her husband but she refuses to accept any of the charges. Qyburn also tells her that Grand Maester Pycelle is controlling her Small Council and has sent for Kevan, her uncle to come back from the Casterly Rock and work as Tommen’s Hand. Before going out of her cell, Qyburn tells Cersei that “the work continues”.

Arya gets under the skin of Lana, and act as the oyster seller like her. While learning acting with Jaqen, she describes her day to him, who asks her to change usual routine, and should instead head to the harbour. There, she meets a life insurance salesman and sells oysters to him. Jaqen tells her that the family of one of such salesman’s client has hired the Faceless Man to kill him after they refused to pay when told that the client died after drowning at sea. He asks Arya to go back to the harbour and get all the information about him before poisoning him.

Gilly treats the wounds of Sam, when Olly asks to talk to him in private. Olly asks Sam why Jon trusts the wildlings so much, emphasizing on the point that the wildings and Tormund attacked his village and murdered his whole family. Sam calmly tells Olly that Jon has made a very difficult decision and they do not stand a chance to beat the army of the dead if they don’t take the help of the wildlings.

Theon Greyjoy/Reek brings food for Sansa, who is still locked in the chamber. She asks Reek why he told Ramsay about the escaping plans she told him and he replies that there is no way to escape from Ramsay. When he starts going out, Sansa asks him about the assassination of Bran and Rickon, but Reek tells her the truth that he was not able to find them and instead murdered two farm boys and showed the charred remains as that of the Stark children.

Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 8 Summary (Synopsis)- Hardhome

Roose Bolton and his consultants plan for a battle in the great hall. Roose plans to wait out the intruders, emphasizing that Winterfell is now fully repaired and supplied; they will be in a better stage to badger than Stannis. Ramsay asserts that the Boltons should take the fight to Stannis and also asks his father to give him twenty good men.

Daenerys meet Jorah and Tyrion. She asks Tyrion why he should be kept alive. Tyrion tells her that he know very well how politics work in the King’s Landing and would be of great help to her due to his valuable experience as former Hand of the King. Tyrion succeeds in convincing her to spare Jorah and tells her that Jorah should not be serving her and so she orders Jorah exiled from Meereen once again. Afterwards, Daenerys tells Tyrion that he would not be killed or exiled but she will keep him as an advisor. She also told him about gaining the Iron Throne back which is her birth right. When she tells him about the support she is getting from the common people of Westeros, Tyrion tells that her rule of Meereen has not gone smoothly enough with only common people as the supporters, and that if she wants to win, she needs the backing of a powerful Westerosi house. She furiously remarks that the powerful Westeros houses are only the spokes of the wheel and she aims to break the entire wheel. When Jorah comes back to Yezzan zo Qaggaz and asks him to allow fighting in front of Daenerys in the Fighting Pits.

After reaching Hardhome, Jon, Tormund, and associates of Night’s Watch rendezvous with the Lord of Bones, who has now, became the de facto leader of the wildlings. After a tense stalemate, Tormund murders the Lord of Bones and asks his aide to gather the elders, which included Wildling leader Karsi. At the meet, Jon gives the drogonglass to the wildlings, telling how Sam murdered a White Walker and saved himself. Jon asks wildlings to farm the lands south of the Wall, if they will help the Night’s watch in the upcoming battle against the White Walkers. When asked about Mance Rayder, Jon tells that he killed him. Furious, all the wildings move to assassinate Jon, but Tormund able to serene them and tells them that Jon murdered Mance out of mercy. After a lot of discussion, Jon and Tormund succeeds in convincing around 5,000 wildlings to accompany them, though the Thenns, followers of Loboda, do not agree to join them.

While filling the ships with the wildlings, Hardhome is assailed by an army of wights. Hundreds of wildlings try to flee from there and enter into the boats and assailing each other. Jon and the Night’s Watch brothers helps in the defense to the Hardhome, aiding defend the walls from the wights attacks. Noticing the White Walkers been observing the war, Jon alongside Tormund he realises that there might be the need for the Dragonglass weapon and so he reaches out to his bag where it been kept. As they both enter this large hut, Loboda is killed when a White Walker attacks them. Jon is unable to get the drogonglass but succeeds in fleeing from there.

Hardhome – Game Of Thrones Season 5 Episode 8 Review Summary

The White Walkers follows him and they fight bravely. The White Walker is killed by Longclaw, Jon’s Valyrian steel sword. His victory seems short lived, as the walls which surrounds the Hardhome fall to the wights which forces Jon and the remaining ones to forcefully flee from there. As Jon comes back to the boats, he notices that Night’s King is resurrecting the dead, which included Karsi and a lot of wildlings and the Night’s Watch, as wights.
